On December 3, 2025, the AREANA WP1 workshop “Implementation and Growth Path Finalization Workshop” was held in Prague, hosted by VZLU AEROSPACE.
As the EU-funded project AREANA reaches its end at the end of the month, the AREANA Synergy MoU Group will continue its work, open to welcoming new members.
One of the topics of discussion was the launch of the “JoinED Call 2025/26,” which only last week, on November 27, had an online Info Event. The call will focus on strengthening international cooperation in aviation research and innovation.
Furthermore, the discussion focused on several key areas:
– Strategy Comparison: Participants highlighted the need to reduce gaps and overlaps between national strategies, establish a basis for efficient use of twinning, and promote greater harmonization of national strategies in the medium term.
– Data Sharing: Key points included the importance of confidentiality and implementation of “reciprocity of data use,” as well as ensuring wide availability of current data sets with fixed processes for updating.
– Twinning: The emphasis was placed on avoiding inefficient duplication of work while maintaining meaningful competition and fostering synergies through both “horizontal” and “vertical” cooperation.
– Infrastructure: Discussions centered around joint investment in technological infrastructures and intensified joint use of these resources.
Following the infrastructure discussions, the Project Growth Plan (I and II) examined different areas, aiming to improve mid-term the initial cooperation models to optimize European research funding cooperation. Areas of growth identified include:
– Participation
– Solutions
– Processes
– ASMG Structure
The workshop also touched on national and regional growth, planning to connect European, national, and regional funding, and on European growth, focusing on intensifying cooperation through joint undertakings (CAJU, SESAR) and integration with European strategies.
Regarding solution growth, participants discussed the need to make more intensive use of existing solutions, revise ongoing activities to respond to weaknesses, and develop and implement new solutions. Process growth aimed at identifying areas to enhance process efficiency, while structural growth focused on improving structures, stabilizing processes, and forming alliances.
Lastly, the agenda included a discussion on Synergy Vision, centered on synergy flagships. The importance of people in forming connections and the shared goal of “One Dream” under the Vision 27+ theme was emphasized.
As the meeting ended, participants summarized the results in their final remarks, affirming their commitment to continuing collaboration to advance aviation research and innovation in Europe.
